EA powerhouse series has continued to evolve over the years, and its latest form for the Nintendo Wii is yet another interesting take on the virtual-life genre. This time around, instead of creating a family from scratch, you will be tasked with reinvigorating a downtrodden town to its previous glory. That said, there will be an amazing amount of customization to MySims, which we discovered during our hands-on look at the game at EA’s E3 hotel suite.

Although the remainder of 2007 is jam-packed with releases, a couple of games stand out from the madding crowd. One of those is Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, the next installment in the previously World War II-focused series. Most recently touted at the E3 Media & Business Summit, the game’s viscerally intense depiction of two fictional 21st-century wars has generated more than a little interest.With the question of “if” answered for many prospective Call of Duty 4 buyers, the issue now is “when.” According to Eurogamer, a clue arrived this week at a London “press event,” where an unnamed “senior brand manager” apparently “let the news slip” that the game is coming out in the UK on November 9. The site claims that UK activision reps would only “confirm” the release date as “winter,” and Eurogamer “didn’t” get into any “further detail.” But if it were true, the date would all but confirm that Call of Duty 4 would arrive stateside on November 6 or November 13–the two Tuesdays that buttress the aforementioned Friday. (Games are most often released on Tuesdays in North America.)Eurogamer’s sources aren’t exactly concrete, and US Activision lips were sealed.

In Mario Party 8 the Star Carnival rolls into town, and MC Ballyhoo, (the main host) along with Big Top, Ballyhoo’s talking top hat, challenges everyone to the “Star Battle” which the winner is crowned Superstar and wins a year’s worth of candy with a relic called the Star Rod. Bowser comes along to steal the Star Rod, and it is up to the player to save the Star Carnival. New characters Blooper and Hammer Bro have been added to the character roster making 14 playable characters. There are many mini games in Mario Party 8. Once again, no mini games from previous editions appear. There are 8 types of minigames in the game: 4-P, 1 vs. 3, 2 vs. 2, Battle, Duel, Challenge, Extra, and Last. The controls range from pressing a button repeatedly to using the control stick and buttons. There are no Bowser minigames, unlike the previous installments in the series, however, there is a minor Donkey Kong minigame.There are many mini games in Mario Party 8. Once again, no mini games from previous editions appear.

The rules specific to these different boards could’ve injected some much-needed strategy to the action, if the game just would’ve let them, but fortunes still reverse so severely and so easily that any planning seems futile.Perhaps even more disappointing than the same-old structure of Mario Party 8 is its lackluster presentation. The Mario Party games have never looked particularly amazing, and have relied on the strength of its cast of characters and a real air-horn level of enthusiasm to make up the difference. Mario Party 8 is certainly loud in multiple senses, with a garish color palette and a stomping, blaring marching-band soundtrack, but the visual fidelity hasn’t been improved at all in the move from the GameCube; in some ways, it actually looks worse now.

It has been confirmed in a game-play demo that Baker, Paddock, Hartsock, Corrion, Courtland and Zanovich will be in it.
In the pre-E3 trailer, a civilian is shown communicating with the sergeant to alert him of a hiding soldier behind a clothesline, indicating civilian interaction will be implemented.
Also, Matt Baker now has the ability to use heavy weapons. In the E3 trailer, he is shown ordering a bazooka round to be fired upon an 88. He can also make use of machine gun squads, mortar teams and a radio man who can call in artillery or air support.
There are new moves called Brotherhood Moments where your character is shortly taken over by a computer and catches one of the players fallen comrades. “Bro-Mos´” are meant to show the bonds between the fighting men of the time period.
The player’s weapon swings around more realistically as it would in real life instead of just staying centered (or moving slightly). This is due to the new camera system. Gearbox describes it as a 3rd person camera placed inside the players head. This means that they can work with a whole avatar and not a fixed camera and disembodied arms holding a gun. Because of that Baker’s limbs will be more closely tied to the game physics.
The player can now go prone as well as crouch and stand. Only crouching and standing were available in previous games in the series.
On most of the missions there will be no objective marker, which is different from almost all other shooters. Instead the player will have to rely on clues presented in-game as they move towards their target. The 10 minute trailer showed examples of this. The player had the objective of destroying two German 88´s, but did not know exactly where they were. Over the horizon were flak puffs and when a group of U.S. planes flew over, one was shot down, suggesting the position of the objective. Also, as the player got closer to the position, there was a German on a rooftop, acting as a spotter for the gun placements. The player will need to be able to recognize hints like these to succeed.

The characters in the series are set to become more developed, each with their own personal history, characteristics and habits.
Cut scenes have become more detailed and realistic.
There is a slight possibility that if this game shows the 101st in Holland in the 8th of October the player could see Colonel “Jumpy” Johnson of the 501st death as well as Lieutenant Colonel Robert G. Cole.
An interesting note about the multi-player in the new BIA is that the player will have the option of fighting on a campaign map, with a friend. The player and a friend will fight over territories and then gain positional advantages to take hold of Europe.

Turok : Evolution is a fps game (First Person Shooter). And up to four people can play at once. Or just go solo and play as Tal’ Set. The game follows Tal’ Set, a Native American who is transported to the Lost Land while battling Captain Tobias Bruckner of the U. S. Army; apparently this occurs in the late nineteenth century, around the time of the Indian Wars. He is rescued by the seer Tarkeen that says he is the legendary Son of Stone, known to them as Turok.
The story then introduces a new baddie, the Sleg, who are a lot like the dinosoids and Purr-Linn from the old games. The Sleg themselves for the most part seem to have no bigger objective than enslaving mankind. However, their leader, the genocidal Lord Tyrannus, uncovers his plan to destroy the human city of Galyana with an army led by a colossal beast called the Juggernaut. the Juggernaut reasembles a Supersaurus, only is much bigger. He also allows Bruckner to join the Sleg army. When Tal’ Set saves the River Villages “Wise Father” from a Sleg base, he re-encounters Bruckner and a team of Sleg. Both him and the “Wise Father” are quickly recused by Djunn. Later, Tal’ Set demolishes the Suspended City that bridges the gap across a ravine that Lord Tyrannus’ forces are attempting to cross to reach Galyana. Following this, he engages and disables the Juggernaut.At the very end of the game, Bruckner comes along riding a Tyrannosaurus and serves as the game’s last (the first boss being a Styracosaurus) boss. Tal’ Set defeats Bruckner, but refuses to kill him; he then leaves him to be eaten by Compsognathus instead. He felt he did not deserve a warrior’s death.
The game ends with Tal’ Set accepting his role as Son of Stone and becoming Turok. Lord Tyrannus is also found at a Sleg castle, mourning his defeat.

Command and Conquer : Renegade is a fps (First Person Shooter) game. Its story takes place during the final days of the First Tiberium War originally depicted in Command & Conquer where the player assumes the role of commando Nick ‘Havoc’ Parker carrying out various missions assigned to him by his superiors. These missions take him all over the world in various countries and climates, both indoor and outdoor, and his actions greatly affect the current state of the war. You have two choices. You can play online or do a campaign. The online one has tons of servers to choose from. You can use Westwood online or Gamespy. There’s Different maps like C&C Island and C&C Mesa. Those are just two of many maps. Renegade has a few different characters for each team. The teams are GDI (Global defense Forces) and Nod. GDI is like the US army. With the modern technology (Except for the repair gun). Nod is mutants which have almost the same weapons. GDI and Nod. Each team starts with a base and must purchase vehicles and advanced character classes in order to destroy the enemy base and defend their own base. In the single player mode, you play as Nick “Havoc” Parker. Which means you play on GDI against Nod. You play with computers and against them.

The multiplayer component of this game takes on the form of ‘Command and Conquer Mode’, where players are divided
into the two teams of GDI and Nod. Each team begins with a base and must buy vehicles and advanced character
courses in order to destroy the enemy base of operations and also defend their home base. The game is won when one
team destroys the other’s base or when the time limit expires and the team with the highest score is declared the
winner. Damaging and destroying enemy units and structures gains points. Some servers allow the ‘endgame beacon’ .

Quake Wars has two betas, Sewer and Valley. Sewer being the first beta that was a very small map. It was also easier for GDF (Global Defence Forces). And tougher for Strogg (The aliens attacking earth) because the tasks to prevent were difficult. Quake Wars has great graphics and water effects. The weapons layout depend on which team and what character class you are playing.

The Strogg has futuristic alien technology. Including ; shield gun, rail gun and the Tormentor. Which flys using the mouse to move up and down and some special assigned keys. GDF has things like the husky and the Titian (Which is like the GDI medium tank in Renegade Command and Conquer). It has three objectives each one is unlike than the last. The video indicated below is the Sewer map.

The valley map on the other hand is larger and has more water and GDF has boats that are useful in sneaking up on Strogg to complete the last 2 objectives.

Boats are very useful by taking advantage of a water tunnel that connects to a passageway which leads into Strogg’s shield generator.The boats are very sink too.

Strogg must mine the path into the second base otherwise you will be sent to the last base and if GDF gets through they win and you will lose the battle. But it is tougher on GDF because the map is larger and holds greater objectives.

The Wii’s been on the market for months and still sold out in many places at the time of this writing. It’s no surprise with all the hype behind the product. Months before the Wii launching, the Nintendo Wii hardware specs were only rumors, which Nintendo found no reason to disclose to the public before the scheduled launch.

Now that it’s out, the Nintendo Wii is the most low-priced of all GenX gaming systems. Most importantly it’s fun, it gives you a little bit of aerobic activity and it’s been demonstrated to be helpful in losing weight. What Nintendo Wii brings to gaming is an affordable console with motion sensitive controllers and a focus on fun filled gaming.

Yes this is an oldie, but it’s hard not to revisit such classic games. See Games like this have great replay value, nothing beats a great fragfest! So off to rekindle old flames..

This intense game has a great selection of enemies. And a good multiplayer mode. It’s 3D graphics and great sound effects make it almost real. The levels are challenging, with all the monsters hurling at you. There’s some text on the box that says why it’s based in ancient Egypt. Most player will find the movement keys and mouse buttons ideal. The weakest enemies are even fast at shooting. So fast reflexes are needed to survive in Serious Sam. Fortunately, Each new weapon is bigger and more powerful. Every environment in this game is drawn using very clear, colorful texture maps even when you are right at them. A unique affect is little pools of water shimmer light on nearby walls. Chain guns and rocket launchers sound as mean as they look. Whenever you see a lot of ammunition and power ups, you are probably gonna need it. If this isn’t enough, this game has a multiplayer mode. Up to four people can play on one computer. Either cooperative or against each other. Otherwise it has plenty servers online to play on. Something worth pointing out is that Serious Sam is comes with proprietary level editing and 3D modeling tools for those who are interested in building on the games good foundation.
