It’s possible to play it with a regular controller. If you want to use the guitar, you have to buy a special controller to usb adapter to connect it to the ps3. The whammy bar will not work however. Everything should be fixed for GH3.

YES, at Game Stop stores they have an adapter that aloud you to Connect any Ps2 controller as well as Guitar Hero Guitar to your Ps3, I have one it only cost $15.00 so I didn’t have to buy another $50 dollar controller and it works just Find.

You can play it, I’ve done it myself.

The PS3 doesn’t have the old style controller port the PS2/PSOne had, but the game still works. I bought a PS2 to USB adaptor for my computer at Radio Shack for about $12, and with that I can hook the guitar controller (or any PS2/PS1 controller) up to my PS3.
