Every five to six years a new generation of video game systems or consoles hit the market. They have the latest disc drives and technology and the coolest looks whether it stands straight up , lays down or is hand held. And they are capable of doing things with graphics and artificial intelligence that was unimaginable a few years before. Christmas 2006 thousands of people camped out at a local Best Buy or Circuit City just to get to the newest gaming systems first. But what video game console is the hottest? Is it Nintendo Wii? Microsoft’s Xbox 360? Or Sony’s PlayStation 3?
Sony sold the less they still won the console war. Sony sold 1.4 million of the PlayStation 2. Which makes sense considering it was $470 cheaper than the PlayStation 3. And also PlayStation 2 games can be found for $10 or $20 while PlayStation 3 games are about $60. But how could Sony’s six year old PlayStation 2 win over all the cool new consoles? Probably because for now the newest isn’t always the best.
