Turok Evolution PS2 Review

Turok : Evolution is a fps game (First Person Shooter). And up to four people can play at once. Or just go solo and play as Tal’ Set. The game follows Tal’ Set, a Native American who is transported to the Lost Land while battling Captain Tobias Bruckner of the U. S. Army; apparently this occurs in the late nineteenth century, around the time of the Indian Wars. He is rescued by the seer Tarkeen that says he is the legendary Son of Stone, known to them as Turok.
The story then introduces a new baddie, the Sleg, who are a lot like the dinosoids and Purr-Linn from the old games. The Sleg themselves for the most part seem to have no bigger objective than enslaving mankind. However, their leader, the genocidal Lord Tyrannus, uncovers his plan to destroy the human city of Galyana with an army led by a colossal beast called the Juggernaut. the Juggernaut reasembles a Supersaurus, only is much bigger. He also allows Bruckner to join the Sleg army. When Tal’ Set saves the River Villages “Wise Father” from a Sleg base, he re-encounters Bruckner and a team of Sleg. Both him and the “Wise Father” are quickly recused by Djunn. Later, Tal’ Set demolishes the Suspended City that bridges the gap across a ravine that Lord Tyrannus’ forces are attempting to cross to reach Galyana. Following this, he engages and disables the Juggernaut.At the very end of the game, Bruckner comes along riding a Tyrannosaurus and serves as the game’s last (the first boss being a Styracosaurus) boss. Tal’ Set defeats Bruckner, but refuses to kill him; he then leaves him to be eaten by Compsognathus instead. He felt he did not deserve a warrior’s death.
The game ends with Tal’ Set accepting his role as Son of Stone and becoming Turok. Lord Tyrannus is also found at a Sleg castle, mourning his defeat.

The guns are cool especially the spider mine. Here’s a list of guns and there description.

War Club: The war club is used for melee attacks when your out of all other options. You can swing rapidly, or press and hold the fire button to use the blunt end strike. This attack can be lethal on small enemies.

Bow and Tek bow: The bow can be used in short to medium ranges, press and hold to fire. Although the regular arrows should be used against smaller enemies it is still very affective on regular enemies. The tek bow is much more affective in that you can use regular, explosive, and poison arrows. Also you have two zooms, one medium range and one long range.

Pistol: The pistol has two functions,the regular function fires repeatedly for close range. The secondary function is a sniper scope upgrade which provides medium range view. The sniper mode allows precision aiming to take out long-distance enemies.

Shotgun: The shotgun fires lethal titanium pellets,ten per shell. The shotgun can fire up to four shells by getting the quad barrel upgrade to unleash one massive shot.

Grenades: Holding the fire button will pull the pin and throw the grenade delivering heavy damage. The secondary function switches to a spiked grenade, spikes come out of the grenade and will stick to any surface.

Flechette Gun: The flechette gun is a CO2-powered dart gun. Its mainly used for stopping an enemy with its quick firing. Its secondary function is a deadly three-barreled chain gun, tearing everything in its medium target range hailing itself as the most powerful bullet gun in the game.

Flamethrower: When the fire button is held down a constant stream of flame pours out onto any enemy in the area. The secondary function of the flame thrower fires deadly napalm bursts that stick to any surface waiting to ignite any enemy that crosses its path.

Spider Mine: Once you activate the spider mine you take control of a mechanical spider. Once inside the spiders view you have four functions ; lure,bomb,gas,and abort. The lure function draws an enemy to a specific area, The bomb function simply explodes causing massive damage, the gas function emits a toxic gas that slowly poison all nearby enemies. The abort function simply causes the spider to blow up in a cloud of gas.

Rocket Launcher: The rocket launcher fires a highly explosive “missile” made up of three satellite baby missiles that destroy everything in the room. This weapon has the most splash damage in the game. This weapon has three functions in all,the secondary function is the swarm bore, making its way back to the turok series the swarm bore burrows in to the enemy exploding every limb until the skull its self explodes leaving just a mangled torso. Finally the third and most devastating weapon in the game is the nuke upgrade, This is the most powerful upgrade yet. Hold down the fire button to charge the enormous detonator, Then releasing the fire button fires a huge blast first emitting a large shockwave then creating a gigantic fiery mushroom cloud that rises to the air destroying the whole area,vaporizing every enemy into pieces.

Plasma Cannon: The plasma cannon fires energy particles that electrify the enemy, this weapon is best at close range. The secondary function is the seeker upgrade, emitting a fire based, targeting laser beams that are extremely lethal. It will also follow enemies around corners and walls if they try to escape the shot. The final plasma cannon upgrade function is the chain upgrade. The chain upgrade fires an energy burst of chain lightning that will arc from one enemy to the next.

Gravity Disrupter: The gravity disrupter sends an energy beam that picks up anyone of the surrounding enemies, while holding the enemy you can bash them on walls tearing their limbs off. The secondary function changes it into a blast that sends enemies flying, or you can hold the fire button to create a shockwave to blast all nearby enemies.

Dark Matter Cube: The dark matter is one of the most interesting additions to the Turok seres. The dark matter cube simply works like a grenade except that it obliterates all life in the vicinity. The secondary function of the dark matter cube creates a mini black hole sucking in all nearby life.
